Scope of Work
Central Geotech worked with GDM, to perform a geotechnical investigation in order to confirm the soils beneath an extension of the Anchorage, Alaska VA Medical Facility and Regional Office. The extension included a new Mental Health Building and a new parking lot nearby. The project involved close coordination with the VA, our Primes, and exploration in winter conditions.
Features

- Winter drilling conditions
- Construction recommendations including frost heave remediation
- Report turnaround within four weeks
Results
The scope of work for this project was reduced several times to accommodate for budget constraints and for changes during the Design-Build process with the VA staff. In Alaska, utility locates are difficult to accomplish, winter conditions present extreme cold, and lighting becomes an issue due to the northern location. Central Geotech was able to coordinate with Alaska subcontractors, the VA, and our Prime consultant to perform the work during December, and have the report turned around in less than four weeks.
